When you have a dog, you don't go for a walk, you go for a W-A-L-K. You might decide to go to the B-E-A-C-H, or to go to the shops before D-I-N-N-E-R. If you have a dog, chances are going out for a walk is one of the highlights of their day, but sometimes you can get bored of the usual places. So we're looking for the best places in Adelaide to walk your dog, that can be fun for both you and your pooch. From fun courses to great views, we're sure you've got some good ideas.
One place is the Wilfred Taylor Reserve in Morphett Vale. Not only can you bring your dog along to get some exercise off the lead, but there is also an obstacle course from them to try. Use it for training your dog commands, or just for a bit of fun. There is also a creek that runs through the reserve, so if you don't mind your dog getting a little wet, they might like to run through the water and get nice and messy. The reserve is getting a little old, but that doesn't mean it isn't fun, and you and your dog will both have a great time.
Speaking of getting wet, taking your dog to the beach is a popular choice. You can choose to walk along the esplanade, or head down onto the sand. On dog beaches you can even let your dog off the leash to run around, and get very wet. The beach is a great chance for your dog to socialise, as there are usually plenty of other dogs and people for them to meet and greet. During the winter months most beaches are leash free areas, but during summer try somewhere like Moana Beach where there is a dedicated dog section.
You'll also find that some forests and regional parks have got areas where you can bring your dog along, and these are great places to explore, with interesting sights and smells for your dog. Kuitpo Forrest is one place to try, but keep in mind that dogs often aren't allowed everywhere. Make sure you keep within the dog friendly areas. Taking your dog for a walk here can be a great excuse to pack up a picnic and spend a day in the outdoors.
