This Zoo has to be the best I have seen so far. There are hundreds of species on display here some of which I have never heard of before.
Some of these species can only be seen at this particular zoo, including the pandas, the palm cockatoo and the beautiful hyacinth macaw and also the pygmy marmosets, they are such a delight to look upon. There are many special encounters here for both adults and children that you can book in advance to go behind the scenes with some of the animals.
There are specific feeding times for the animals so be sure to check their website for further details as feeding time is often the most interesting time to see the animals interact.
Yes this Zoo is so full of interesting things to see and nice picnic areas to sit down and take a break that its a must do for weekends.
The zoo is a a nice walk from the city but it is not to far away walk from the city centre either so I just walked from the zoo into the city for something to eat. There are a few restaurants there serving the usual fare of chips and burgers, and there is ample space to have your own picnic. You will easily spend an entire day here.
if you want to find out more or book tickets you can do it online or phone them at 08 8267 3255.
If you are looking to hold koalas and petting kangaroos the Adelaide Zoo is not for you. I suggest that you visit Gorge Wildlife Park instead, his is also a lovely place to bring a picknick and a have a family day out. it has lots of species, you can hand-feed most of the animals, and at $15 per adult it is definitely a bargain.
