Let's Paint The Town Red
With a new coach, several new international signings and a torrent of young talent pressing for spots in the weekly line-up, the team at Adelaide United are looking forward to a challenging and highly positive 2017/18 Hyundai A-League Season. And they need you there to give them your loud and passionate support.

The coach this year is Marco Kurz, a 48-year-old German who played almost 300 games in the Bundesliga with teams like VfB Stuttgart, FC Nurnberg, Borussia Dortmund, Schalke 04 and 1860 Munich. Kurz was then appointed coach at FC Kaiserslautern and helped them return to the Bundesliga.
Kurz has been quick off the block with some key international signings including experienced Australian-born, Turkish defender Ehsan Gülüm, Danish winger Johan Absalonsen and French-born Algerian attacking midfielder Karim Matmour. And adding to the newcomers is some local transfers including the talented Vince Lia from Wellington Phoenix and Nathan Konstandopoulos from Brisbane Roar.
But the incoming stars will not have it all their own way as an emerging squad of existing and young talent seeks to challenge for positions in the starting eleven each week. Paul Izzo looks likely to take the gloves with Jordan Elsey and Ben Warland marshalling the defensive unit. Isaias will resume in the central midfield role while upfront George Blackwood, Papa Diawara and Josh Mori will be pushing hard to get on the score sheet.
An extensive pre-season as well as an extended run in the FFA Cup has seen the team looking sharp and starting to gel nicely, and super keen on settling a few scores against some of their eastern states rivals. Adelaide United play 27 games this season with the following 13 being their home games :
Melbourne Victory (20 October @ 720pm) - Adelaide Oval
A big crowd is expected to the home season opener at Adelaide Oval where Adelaide United will take on their traditional and long term interstate rivals, Melbourne Victory.
All other home games are at Coopers Stadium on Manton Street, Hindmarsh with parking available in some side streets if you are early enough, or in the Entertainment Centre for a small fee. Tickets are available from the Adelaide United website or from the Manton Street gates before the game. For the bigger games against Melbourne City, Western Sydney Wanderers and Sydney FC these are likely to be sell-outs so it may pay to book these in advance.
The team also has 14 away games this season and the best place to follow their fortunes as they travel is their facebook page where photos and comments are provided before, during and after the game. For further details about the team refer to the Adelaide United website or their Facebook page.
