The Rural City of Murray Bridge has created a green corridor of walking paths that greet visitors to its town. The meandering walking and cycling trails are reminiscent of the winding river that gives its name to this large rural City. The attractive curved paths form the pattern of a double helix, inviting travellers to complete a return journey to view the gardens from both paths. Blocks of repeat plantings provide textural drifts of foliage as you walk on the different surfaces of the path.

The is a two-kilometre parkland stretching from Maurice Road to Zerna Avenue, tracking the Adelaide Road entrance to Murray Bridge. Travellers and residents can stop for a picnic at one of the many picnic tables. Decorated shelters and barbecues are a feature of the park.

The long flat linear park creates an ideal place for children to ride their bikes or scooters and remain in view while parents and grandparents have a leisurely stroll. The three-metre wide winding path comfortably accommodates prams, cyclists, joggers and dog walkers. The lush green grassed areas create a sense of calm and tranquillity.

Art installations are a feature of the shade shelters.

A significant limestone and sandstone sculpture installation 'Water'a'Plenty', is described as 'a monument to the joy felt by all the inhabitants and co-habitants of the River Murray catchment area, when after each drought the life-giving waters again flow freely to toward the sea.' 'Water'a'Plenty' was sculpted by Goran Yakas and unveiled in November 2015.

The ingenious water-saving design of protects precious river water by including rain gardens to capture rainfall and recycling local stormwater run-off stored at nearby Gifford Hill, which is pumped back via irrigation infrastructure to keep the newly created linear park self-sustaining, cool and green.

Children can keep a lookout for the Fairy Tree with its red door and find numbers in gold, silver and bronze.

The gold, silver and bronze numerals honour Murray Bridge Paralympian Katrina Webb, who won medals in the Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004 Olympics. Katrina planted the commemorative tree after winning gold and silver medals in Atlanta.

There are many interesting textures in the paths and landscaping. Solar lighting gives the option of continuing your walk into the cool of the evening.

An avenue of red and white roses provides a fragrant contrast to the many native plants and grasses.

Public toilets are located near the White Hill Truck Drivers Memorial. This memorial was designed and built by truck driver Keith Wood, with the help of volunteers. It was opened in November 2013. An annual memorial service is held here to commemorate truck drivers who have lost their lives as professional drivers and others in the transport industry who have passed away.

You may choose to leave the manicured park for a foray into the natural bushland, and continue following the sandy track up the hill to Old Swanport Road.

The finished parkland was officially opened on Monday 5 July by South Australian Deputy Premier, Attorney-General and Minister for Planning and Local Government Vickie Chapman MP.
