This fun, friendly and much-adored charity football match is a fundraiser for Reclink Australia and 100% of your support goes to them. The funds raised contribute to the running of art and sport programs for disenfranchised and disadvantaged communities in South Australia.
Tickets are $5 adults, and a Gold Coin Donation for kids. Gates open at midday and kick off is at 1pm. This year's theme draws from the legendary songwriter/musicians, Paul Kelly and Kev Carmody's classic hit, 'From Little Things Big Things Grow' which will be celebrated across Australia. Having just returned home after a performance at Glastonbury, Young Offenders will be performing at half-time.
Reclink Australia delivers specialist sport, recreation and arts programs for at-risk youth, people with mental illness or disability, people experiencing homelessness and domestic violence, and those facing alcohol, gambling and substance addictions. It is believed for every $1 invested in the Reclink Australia structured sport program, it delivered at least $8.94 social return in investment. Even if you can't make it to the match, please be a local hero and DONATE to help our youth.
This year, funds raised from this event is even more important than ever. The State Government has cut Reclink SA's funding of a $50,000 grant each year. This will affect programs run in regional areas and will scale back programs run in Adelaide. Premier Steven Marshall has since made a one-off donation to Reclink SA of $50,500 which will enable the programs to continue running for this year. However, this still puts the future of Reclink SA programs into question from 2020 onwards.
