For three whole days, Semaphore becomes a kite flying hub and thousands of people come to the area to watch, to enjoy and to play.
Easter in Adelaide is a perfect time for a day at the beach. The days are sunny and there's usually a slight breeze about. It's great fun to be outdoors and enjoy the challenge of getting a kite into the air - and keeping it there!
The Kite Festival is a free community event. There's lots on the program which will keep everyone in the family happy. Firm favourites back again this year are the lolly drop and the parachuting teddy bear. A surprise visit from the Easter Bunny will delight the kids on Easter Sunday and Monday.
Being at the kite festival is a fun day outside in the sun. The kids can get involved with flying a kite or they can just try and choose which of the flying kites is their favourite. There are also kite making workshops and a colouring-in competition for the kids. Check the event's Facebook page for all the info on the colouring-in competition and other event information. For photography enthusiasts, there are a million different photos that can be taken. For those who love to browse, shop and eat, there will be more than 30 stalls in the Festival Marketplace. This family-friendly free event is a great chance to get out and see something very different and have a lot of fun!
The Kite Festival is run by the Adelaide Kite Flyers Association and attracts kite flyers from all over Australia. This year the festival will be welcoming special international guests from New Zealand and Malaysia. If you want to see how the pro's do it, then this is the event you need to come to.
