Big fan of crime documentaries? Fascinated by serial killers and psychopaths? Or simply want an excuse to dress up and point fingers at some potential culprits?
Well, it's time to put your detective hat on, because this is a list of murder mystery "parties" that you won't want to miss this Adelaide Fringe season - expect a bit of fun, a bit of mischief, and a whole lot of sleuthing:
Jane Austen: Private Eye
Literary detective Jane Austen is on a mission, where she travels through space and time to find herself as a key individual in a murder mystery in the year 2132! After noticing patterns in deaths that occurred 157 years apart under similar circumstances, Miss Austen needs to prevent the same fate from happening again. Audience members can expect dark comedy and mayhem.
Set in the picturesque Manor Castle in Basket Range, audience members will be treated to a murder mystery that is filled with historical references and musical clues to find the culprit. Enjoy a meal, perhaps stay the night, and solve the puzzle of who-dun-it, with a bunch of strangers who will quickly become comrades, as you piece your way through the show and solve the murder.
Murder at the Juice Joint Travel back in time to the prohibition-era, when crime was at its peak. You'll be treated to a speakeasy-style setting, where you get to choose your own character and deck out in costume of your liking, after which you'll be invited to a party unlike any other. One that involves taking care of a certain someone who will be on your hit list! There will be music, bribery, corruption, cops, mobsters, and flappers (among many).
A murder mystery embedded in a speed dating event? Now, there's an interesting and unique concept for finding love! Expect a range of characters - choose from a serial dater, virgin, freak, geek, cougar, and more!
A Murder Most Foul: A Murder Mystery in the Sky
Taking place at the spacious Adelaide Oval, audience members will embark on a voyage of the "AS Adelaide", where they will be treated to a 4-course meal and are encouraged to dress up for the part! Hoping to get to London from Adelaide in 2 days, expect to see a range of quirky characters, who will be dressed in a plethora of Victorian/Neovictorian (Steampunk), 30's and 50's era costumes, as they solve a murder and pinpoint every single individual as a potential suspect.
A role-playing game that will include you as a key individual from the town of Millers Hollow, your job is to solve the mystery of werewolves who disguise themselves so well to integrate within the society. Deaths are many and it's time to immerse yourself in a room with strangers and work closely to find out the culprit(s) and prevent another death from happening!
