The Adelaide Convention Centre is hosting a record seven SALA Festival exhibitions with the new West Building providing plenty of additional exhibition space for participating artists. There is a huge collection of art on view for SALA in the month of August.

These huge installations are part of the Centre ArtBeat program. With close to 160 works on display which include sculptures, paintings, photographic collections and ink drawings, there is a lot to see. The exhibitions will be on display during SALA from Saturday 1st August until August 31, and are open to the public every day.

It is suggested to collect a map on arrival and take your time to meander down 700 metres of art-adorned walls and windows. The convention centre also boasts stunning views across Adelaide. The outlook along the river Torrens and footbridge is panoramic and definitely worth bringing visitors along to see. Take a look at the map and walking guide to the art exhibitions on the link here .

Artist Lesley Payne has called her artwork exhibition A Stroke of Colour. It shows distinctive glossy abstract designs. The eye is cast into a chasm of swirling colours. They are large and vivid works that command attention. This gallery exhibiting space is very spacious and cavernous which could have lesser works receding in view. Other artists and works include Steven Grigoul with works entitled Circulate, Cathy Gray with works entitled World of the Soul, Kirstie McGregor with her works entitled Assimilation and Nina Ventura has works entitled The Journey Continues.

The 2015 Epson South Australian Professional Photography Awards Exhibition is included in this vast collection of art. The art works were unveiled at an official opening on August 5th which was attended by over 500 people. The photographic works are displayed in one long line, which is not very inspiring in format. Perhaps little collections by each photographer would have drawn the eye more.

This is a massive collection of art installed in the one building. A good space to explore this winter. Collect or download the walking guide and enjoy the fantastic views, loads of art and get some exercise all at the same time. The exhibitions are on until August 31st.
