Its the Year of the Shark
Close, but not quite good enough has been the story of the last few years with the Adelaide Bite. Having learnt painfully from those years, the Adelaide Bite are back with a strengthened squad, new game plan and a passion to win and bring the Australian Baseball League championship to Adelaide to the first time in its eight-year history.
Manager, Chris 'Tank' Adamson, is back and has been actively studying players during the offseason, and has brought in a number of new players with a promise to entertain the crowd and to earn the points each game. The pitching talent has been boosted by the inclusion of Chris Powell (from LA Dodgers) and Max Beatty (from Chicago White Sox), while Rodrigo Ayarza (from the Houston Astros) completes a trio of key American signings. Supplementing the trio is the mercurial Chang Tai-Shan (Tarzan), one of the all-time legends of baseball in Taiwan.
Joining them will be a string of local talent looking to impress the talent scouts including Chris Horne, Nathan Van Der Linden, Kark Hoschke, Connor O'Gorman, Jack O'Loughlin, Ky Hampton and Angus Roeger. The Adelaide Bite plays at the Adelaide Shores Baseball Complex at West Beach with all games starting at 7pm, with the exception of the Sunday and Monday games which start at 2pm. The home games for the team this season are:
During each of the above rounds, the teams play each other four times over the round thus meaning they get to know their opponents better as each game occurs, but also meaning that schemes, tactics and the depth of each other's squads come in to play to ensure that one team can come out on top during the round and secure bragging rights until they next compete. At the end of the round-robin series, the teams then face off in semi-finals and the grand final on the first two weekends in February.
The grandstand at the Adelaide Shores Baseball Complex makes for great viewing, but for an even better opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the stars of the Adelaide Bite, why not grab some tickets for the Shark Tank, and enjoy the hospitality and different view that this arena offers.
Tickets for the games are available from the gate or can be pre-purchased online at a discount to the gate price. And to ensure families have an opportunity to enjoy a good night of competitive sports without having to mortgage their home, the Adelaide Bite offer a number of different ticketing arrangements dependent upon the number of games in the round you wish to attend, season passes, and family offerings. It is also worthwhile keeping your eyes out for some extraordinary ticket offerings which occasionally come up through the discount coupon websites.
The Adelaide Bite also play five rounds and 20 games away from home during the season with the results updated regularly on their facebook page. For further details on the Adelaide Bite and their progress during the season refer to the Adelaide Bite website or their Facebook page.
