Wat Phra Kaew in Bangkok, Thailand

Thai cuisine is hugely popular in Australia, the fresh tastes of coriander, lemongrass and Thai basil coupled with garlic, ginger and chilli are a delightfully tantalising combination.

I love the flavours. I like to cook it. And more importantly, I like to eat it. Unfortunately my part of town isn't well serviced by Thai restaurants, but luckily there are some not too far away.

Garden Fresh Thai Basil

It's been a while since I feasted on Thai that someone else has cooked, and I had to think hard to decide which is my favourite restaurant.

Then it came to me - Red Curry Roast Duck with its superlative fruity accompaniments of pineapple and lychees, from the Star of Siam on Gouger St. It's been a couple of years since I last had it, but I still remember its rich heady flavours fondly.

Home Made Red Curry Fish

In my garden I have been able to grow Thai basil successfully, so haven't missed out on my Thai fix for long. I have tried several recipes, but this one for Basil Chicken Stir Fry is one of my regular favourites.

But I can feel a gnawing pang in my stomach for a Thai restaurant experience. So which should I choose? We have reviewed a few here on Weekend Notes, where is your favourite place to have Thai food in Adelaide?

Love Star of Siam in Gouger St. The food is always good ,staff are friendly and atmosphere is great. Lunch specials are good value too. You nearly always have to book for dinner as it`s usually very busy.

Regent Thai, O'Connell Street North Adelaide is the best. I have a Thai daughter-in-law and when she visited Adelaide we went to a few Thai restaurants and this was her favourite. I also love their food, menu, friendly and efficient service. It is always busy no matter what day of the week when other restaurants are empty.
