The Australian Design Centres boutique outdoor Makers Market will now be on again in October 2019.
Part of the Sydney Craft Week Festival, this is going to be a very typical Darlinghurst type of festival and it will be a friendly local street market. As a market, this will turn into a whole morning/afternoon and will be finished by nightfall.
Alongside exhibitions at the Centre by Australian Tapestry Workshop and JMGA-NSW, the Makers Market will showcase more than 25 local Sydney artists who have been chosen for their outstanding work. It will be handmade, designed and collectable pieces and will include the following:
Textiles
Jewellery
Ceramics
Homewares
This dress is by Evyie designer, Ly Dinu. She was born in Thailand and raised in Sydney where she was taught to sew from generations of dressmakers before her. From the actual design to pattern making, she is guided by her simplicity and sustainability. The garments are entirely designed and constructed in her Sydney studio and at the heart of each garment exists a very simple but elaborate design. Please note that this dress is not necessarily available at this Market.
Why don't you put this event in your diary and come and enjoy the market atmosphere! It will be held under a huge marquee which will be close to Palmer Street and there will be Sydney's most talented inventors who will show off their fascinating work.
The date for this function will be on Saturday, 19th October 2019 from 10:00 am to 4.00 pm at the Australian Design Centre, 101-115 William Street, Sydney (corner William and Palmer Streets).
The Design Centre will be open all day so you can catch the latest exhibitions that are on there and check out all the beautiful items in the Object Shop.
The Design Centre retail space which supports their makers and designers will also have some delicious food and coffee on-site to help you do the shopping! Don't miss out on this amazing opportunity to mix and talk to the makers. Listen to their tales about why and how they make their goods, and even perhaps take a little bit of their work home to enjoy.

Outer Island
Outer Island is the collection of partners by Amy Ranck and Stephanie Chambers. The Sydney-based couple's mission is to bring awareness to the intent of this world by creating souvenirs that focus on native plants, animals and habitats. They have a very hard focus on sustainability and their work is ethically produced using only natural or recyclable materials.
The two work out of a sunny area in Darlinghurst and a part of their sales is donated to not-for-profits within Australia, working to make a change to protect the oceans, birds, plants and habitats.
You can find out more about this event at their
