Adam Hall with his Velvet Playboys line-up returns to Swan Valley vineyard Upper Reach for their final twilight concert of the 2019 season. The concerts are being held for their 15th year to celebrate vintage and Adam has been a regular performer there for more than a dozen years.

The concert on Saturday, March 16, will focus on the jazz and rhythm and blues music of the 1940s and 1950s by performers like Frank Sinatra, Sammy David Junior, Louis Prima, Ray Charles, Jacki Wilson and Chuck Berry and more recently Harry Connick Junior and The Blues Brothers.

Adam Hall and The Velvet Playboys have been entertaining both Perth and international audiences since 2005 with their polished style and high-powered energy. It's the kind of music that prompts the audience to jump up on the grass to dance.

Upper Reach owner Laura Pearse said the Velvet Playboys were a perfect finale to the twilight concert season.

Winemaker Derek Pearse said the celebration of the 2019 vintage is doubly satisfying because a long, cool, almost cold, Spring means it looks like being a fabulous year for Upper Reach's wines.

The twilight concerts are intimate affairs with a crowd either bringing their own picnic and blankets to spread out on the lawn in front of the winery or dining at the RiverBrook restaurant which overlooks the lawns where the stage is set up.

The restaurant menu offers two courses and includes a ticket to the concert for $99. The cellar door will also be open for concertgoers to buy Upper Reach's award winning wines, either by the glass or the bottle. BYO is not allowed.

Adam Hall says it is always a delight to play at the Upper Reach concerts, which are a little different to the more formal gigs they generally play.

Doors open at 5.45pm so people can get settled in with their picnics while they look out over the vines and watch the sun go down and the music gets underway at 6.30pm.

Alongside Adam on vocals and trumpet, the Velvet Playboys features Mark Turner on guitar, Matthew Hanson on drums, Anthony Dodos on trombone, Kate Pass on double bass and Ronan Chapple on keys.

General admission tickets for the concert are $40 each, $18 for five to 17-year-olds and free for children under five.

Concert tickets are available from: upperreach.com.au

Upper Reach Winery is at 77 Memorial Avenue, Baskerville and is open every day from 11am to 5pm.

RiverBrook Restaurant is open every day for lunch and breakfast.

The phone number for the cellar door is (08) 9296 0078 and for the restaurant is (08) 9296 3883.
