Go from Dad jokes to Rock Star Parent, secret guide
We've all seen the pictures of stressed out parents and screaming kids and none of us want to be that. Deep down we all secretly want to be "Rock Star" Parents/Guardians/Aunty or Uncles.
We want to get it right and be the cool dude parents who the other kids are envious of, so how to get started? What are some suggestions that could take you from dad jokes to rock star parent?
Toss out the "chilling on the couch while the kids are begging to do something" role model and jump into some of these great suggestions.
To get the ball rolling here's a few of my suggestions:
CHILLED OUT PARENTS: Movies and theatres are always fun and if you're really pooped you may even sneak in a cheeky nap. Try Gold Class or here's a list of the rock star parenting cinemas.
Sometimes you just need a little bit of relaxation and a chill out zone that the kids will join in with you - a perfect way to achieve this is at Peninsula Hot Springs where you can lazily soak the day away.
FOODIE PARENTS: Whilst you are visiting Phillip Island take a detour to Pannys Amazing World of Chocolate where, in true Willy Wonka fashion, every 3 minutes the chocolate waterfall showers down 400kgs of chocolate. Then not only are the kids allowed to play with the chocolate machine, they can make their own chocolate art and then eat it as it pops out the other end of the conveyor.

Remember when we were kids, the old fashioned lolly shops where you could drool over all the sweets and then finally make your selection? Well there's still a couple of these around and one of them can be found at Warrandyte Lollies and Treats.
EDUCATIONAL FUN PARENTS:
Take a step back in time and head to Ballarat for the day. You can visit Sovereign Hill, where the kids can see how life was lived back in the gold rush days, then head out to Creswick and take your own private Gold Tour with Creswick Gold Tours. You never know, you may even strike it rich. Wow how cool would you be then.
A visit back through the nearby Daylesford and a dip in the Daylesford Mineral Baths, followed by a browse in the curio shops and high tea in Daylesford before the trip back to Melbourne. If you possibly had spare time here, for a spot of history and fun you could even join in a GPS Treasure Hunt at Lake Daylesford.

Over to you: We would love to hear your suggestions.
Where do you love to get away to for the day with the kids? What's your favourite must see / must do with kids or what can you think of that would really rock this parenting trip?
Please write your comments and suggestions in the comments box at the top of this article to share with us. We are waiting to hear your suggestions.
