Kids in your hair - free outdoor events to keep them happy
The Moreton Bay Regional Council is holding Active Kids again during January from the 12th through to the 23rd.
This is a great initiative designed to keep young minds active, healthy and busy. There's no need to enrol or sign up for this, just pick your session and come on down to join in.
Basically, you can plan ahead, or if you find a morning where the kids are overly energetic and everyone needs to get out of the house, bring them along to an Active Kids session.
Held in local parks from Caboolture to Burpengary to North Lakes and Strathpine, the sessions encourage kids to get outside and get active. Sessions are completely free and are run in a non-competitive atmosphere with a focus on fun. Active Kids is for children aged 3 to 12 years old.
Activities include drum beats, yoga, junior athletics, gymnastics, ramp up skateboarding, self-defence, soccer, table tennis, all abilities golf, ball sports adventure, beach games and bounce tennis.
Most sessions go for an hour from 8.30am to 9.30am but some others are at mid-morning or afternoon, so check the official timetable for session times. The official timetable and brochure also gives further descriptions of each of the activities.
What to bring Bring a water bottle, hat, sunscreen, closed in shoes and something healthy to snack on afterwards, and don't forget your sense of adventure and fun.
