Have you tried an acting class before?
Have you ever dreamed of becoming a movie star or Broadway legend, or maybe just wanted to give this acting thing a go? After all, anyone can do it right? Well yes they can, but you need to know what you are doing first and the best way is to start at the beginning.
A few months back I attended one of the free 3 hour workshop held by 'Acting Classes In Perth'. I had such a great time. I found the teacher, Loren Johnson, to be patient and very good at making people feel at ease. As most of us were first timers, we definitely needed it. As part of the workshop, Loren took us through a few basic exercises before giving us a script to play with. Then in the final part of the lesson we performed with him giving us directions and pointers along the way.
Yes, it was very exhausting, but worth it. The moment you allow yourself to let go of your insecurities and no longer care what others think, you get a rush. It is something that I would highly recommend you try out.
Acting Classes In Perth hold free 3 hour workshops every now and then. You would have to enquire as to when their next class is, as unfortunately these dates are not always on their website.
They also have weekend workshops and one-on-one private lessons available, though these workshops do cost money. Being a student, it is a little far out of my 'fun stuff to do' budget. Maybe if I had aspirations to become an actor, I could justify the cost. Don't get me wrong, its great value, so long as you have that kind of money lying around. A weekend workshop will cost you around $300-$500, depending on the deals at the time (most of the time you find the special of $300 for the weekend workshop going). Personally I cannot comment on what these workshops are like but I have heard positive feedback that they are a great starting point.
So if you want to give acting a go check out their website and see (or ask) when their next free 3 hour workshop is. I should also add that these workshop are great for a family fun day out, or for a group of friends. Then again, you could just be like me and go by yourself.
