Australian Conservation Foundation will host
ACF Sandcastle Contest at
Tannum Sands at Canoe Point Park - Canoe Point Road, Tannum Sands, on Saturday, 5 October 2024, starting from 9 am to 1 pm.
ACF Gladstone is taking part in a wave of local events across the country to demand protection for Australia’s unique creatures. Australians love our country's creatures and the places that they call home. But nature in Australia is in trouble. 2,000 Australian plants and animals are on the threatened species list, and the list is growing. We need strong new laws that actually protect nature.
Please come and join this fun family event and raise awareness of Australia's beautiful native species and efforts to protect them. Show your love for nature while taking part in a friendly sandcastle-making contest that suits all ages. Connect with others who care about protecting and restoring nature. You also be able to paint, draw and write on the Community for Creatures banner, which will be delivered to your Member of Parliament (MP).
Please note that for the sand sculpture contest, you are encouraged to build any sea animal or sea-themed sculpture of your choice. Judges will decide on winners at 11am, so try to arrive on time. There will be four prize categories;
Most Original, Most Realistic, Crowd Favourite, Best Age 16+ Creation. Please register
here to help with catering purposes as light lunch will be provided (including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options).
