Absolute Dylan - Aussie Bob Channels Dylan at The Gov

With the Nobel Prize winning singer, poet/singer/songwriter Bob Dylan about to celebrate his 76th birthday and his Nobel Prize in Literature, Adelaide's Aussie Bob will be performing on stage his very special Absolute Dylan Tribute Show at The Gov on Saturday, 27 May 2017 at 7.30 pm.

"Some years ago, what began as my party trick, with me imitating Bob Dylan," said Aussie Bob, "led to me creating a show for the Adelaide Fringe in 2011.

After 6 consecutive years of sold-out concerts at the Adelaide Fringe Festival and taking his show to Melbourne, Sydney and Perth in 2016, Aussie Bob is now performing a very special show to celebrate Mr. Dylan's 76th birthday and his Nobel Prize in Literature 2016 "for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition."

Bob Dylan is the first songwriter to receive the prestigious award.

The Aussie Bob Dylan Show has presented various sides of Bob Dylan with no two shows being the same. The shows have varied from the full seven piece Rolling Thunder Revue type band, to Aussie Bob performing his solo performance echoing the very early Bob Dylan.

Like Dylan now, Aussie Bob has a super tight band, all incredible and highly reputable musicians in their own right:

Ian (Polly) Politis - one of the finest keyboard players in Australia – performing with many top quality musical shows including - Aust Pink Floyd Show, Acoustic Juice, Rumours (Fleetwood Mac Tribute show) and many others.

Jeff Algra (Drums)- very well-known drummer around town, playing in Seven Stories, The Ya-Ya's and several other current bands,

Fiona Patten (Violin) - several Adelaide orchestras, recently played at Womad and with The Whitlams,

Brother T - bass player from the 60's Rock tribute, British Rock Invasion show, The Harmonics, very established funky bass player

Aussie Bob is established as one of the finest guitar/harmonica players in Australia. He has performed with Bernadette Peters (Adelaide Cabaret Fest), Vernon Reid (Living Colour), Black 'n' Blue, various other studio and live performances over 30 years.

"The Absolute Dylan show is not a rehash of all the old Dylan songs, " says Aussie Bob. " Although you will hear some of Bob's classics, they are performed with new and fresh arrangements, very much in the style of Bob's own current performances. We create new arrangements and sometimes add new lyrics, much the same as he does now."

Aussie Bob said, "We do his early songs like Blowin' in the Wind, Ballad of a Thin Man, Gotta Serve Somebody, Simple Twist of Fate, Desolation Row, Highway 61, Tangled Up in Blue and Slow Train Coming. There are also plenty of songs from the last 20 years from albums such as Tempest and Together Through Life.

Aussie Bob says, "When people hear it's a Bob Dylan tribute show they all have their own ideas of what that may be. What you can be sure of is it is just like a Dylan concert - it won't be what you might expect, but something wonderfully different ".
