A peforming cocktail of circus, burlesque and vaudeville
Following the phenomenal success of EMPIRE, Spiegelworld's seventeen-month touring season in 2013/14, the travelling circus cabaret heads back to Australian shores in 2015 with ABSINTHE, a daringly different and hugely talented performance voted "Best Show in Vegas" by Vegas Seven Magazine after its opening season at Caesars Palace in 2011.
Pulling inspiration from absinthe-drenched cabarets found in Europe in the late 19th century, ABSINTHE by Spiegelworld presents a risque mix of circus, burlesque and vaudeville for 21st century audience pleasure. Performed in the signature 700-seat spiegeltent, with suitably matched interior decor and a well stocked bar, the outrageous host Gazillionaire, played by actor and former Cirque du Soleil clown Voki Kalfayan and his assistant Penny, present the highly acclaimed circus spectacular to adult-only theatregoers.
Spiegelworld's Australian tour of ABSINTHE is expected to see the return of the magnificent acts seen in previous Las Vegas productions, with a few new entertaining surprises thrown in.
Following a thriving succession of performing seasons and four sell-out years in Las Vegas and New York, ABSINTHE has been hailed as "the most inventive and daring show to open on the strip in years!" by Las Vegas Sun, and clearly can't be missed when it graces the land Down Under.
The national tour of ABSINTHE by Spiegelworld, presented by Nine Live, will open in Newcastle on February 17, 2015, followed by seasons in Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Sydney with other dates to be announced.
