School holiday fun & learning at Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve
Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve is located 45 minutes south west of Canberra city. It is a popular reserve to visit to spot platypus, kangaroos and koalas in the wild and go for family-friendly short walks. Each school holidays they offer a range of free guided tours and school holiday workshops, after paying the entry fee per car to get into the reserve ($13 per car).

The July school holiday workshops have booked out fast, however, there are still tickets available (at the time of writing) for "Aboriginal Boomerangs and Spears" on 18th July, at a cost of $15. This one hour workshop, between 10:30am - 11:30am, shows kids the many different types of boomerangs, spears and tools that are used by Aboriginal Australians and then they learn how to throw boomerangs themselves. Participants will then get keep their own boomerang. This workshop is suitable for ages 5 - 15 years.
