This spectacular woman's day event will blow you away with the sounds of 'Ingoma' the powerful and distinctive traditional Burundian drums. The Ingoma is a drum covered with a membrane of animal skin, and the shell or resonator is a hollowed out tree trunk, the umuvugangoma, which literally means 'the wood that makes the drum resonate'.
Burundi is a small landlocked country in east central Africa bordering Rwanda, Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The two distinct ethnic groups there are the Hutu and the Tutsi. Come along and discover more about the Burundi culture, enjoy the food and sway to the beat of the drums.
