Eddy and I frequent Abbeville Street Park at least a few times a week - it is definitely our favourite dog park. This is a great place to meet new people. We've met some really friendly people (and dogs!) there, including Eddy's sister from the same litter. What are the chances? This proves just how popular this park is with locals.
Abbeville Street Park may not be as big as DM Henderson Park, but it still has many facilities, including exercise equipment, which DM Henderson Park doesn't have. They also have a bigger and flatter grassy area, which is perfect for playing sports. Below are some pictures of the available facilities.
There are also many nice shady areas for you to sit, if you are in need of a rest. In addition, there is a community garden that you can view. Dogs aren't allowed inside, so here is a photo taken from the outside.
The best facility that Abbeville Street Park has to offer is their dog park — without a doubt the best that we've visited in Brisbane. There is a separate area for big dogs and small dogs, and there are always plenty of dogs there. It's really disappointing when you arrive at a dog park, only to find out you are the only one there. Eddy and I encountered this situation many times, before we hit the jackpot and discovered this place.
Separate gates for big dogs and small dogs. Also a great way for small dogs to interact with bigger dogs, without owners fearing something might go wrong.
There are plenty of seats for owners to sit while their furry counterparts run to their hearts' content, as well as poo bags, in case any accidents happen. In addition, there are baskets that usually have toys (e.g. tennis balls) in them, donated by locals who frequent the place for all to use. Thank you.
