Abattoir Blues Cafe

Don't get the blues before the event Go to Abattoir Blues
Once upon a time there was an abattoir on the site of Sydney Olympic Park, which is why you may see quite a few bovine references when you are wandering around the area.

It is also the reason behind the name of a new cafe that has opened up right next to All Phones Arena.

Abattoir Blues is a funky cafe/bar/deli that is open Monday - Saturday. Our little family popped by on a Saturday morning for breakfast. The interior has a retro feel with both booth and stool seating. There is also a spacious outdoor seating area which is ideal for kids to run around in.

The reasonably priced menu covers all of your breakfast favourites. All of the pastries, muffins and cakes are made on site so there is a wonderful aroma permeating the building. We had the bacon and free range egg rolls for $8.20. They were served on a delicious brioche bun and dripping in a divine BBQ sauce. Our kids had the house made banana bread which was devoured in record time.

The coffee was served lukewarm, which may not be to everyone's liking, but it certainly did look funky in its yellow cup and saucer.

Abbatoir Blues is open for breakfast and lunch Monday - Saturday as well as Friday evenings when they host live music. I can't wait to go back and check out their lunch fare as the menu is bursting with delicious sounding burgers and pies.
