AAMI Park is a large stadium located in Richmond, close to the Melbourne CBD. It hosts many events yearly including the rugby, the soccer, some concerts, and the Monster Jam monster truck show in October.
AAMI is a great place to visit if you like soccer or rugby, as during the winter months these sports are held there. They are home to the Melbourne soccer teams Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City.
Getting to the stadium is easy. It is a small walk from Richmond train station which is accessible via the Frankston, Cranbourne and Belgrave train lines. Otherwise, there is a tram and limited buses that stop close by the stadium.
There are lots of food stalls within the venue that sell your usual hot food such as hot dogs, pies, chips, sausage rolls, chicken and beef burgers, ice creams, lollies, and crisps. Among the food stalls, you may find speciality carts that sell delicious roast beef rolls, pretzels, kebabs and other foods.
The security at this venue is fantastic because they take the time to search bags and make sure everybody is safe.
The best event I attended at this place was the Sia concert in November 2017. The staff were really helpful and showed us where we needed to be seated. The merchandise staff were so bubbly and fun to talk to when it wasn't busy, the food stall staff were very quick at pushing through the huge queues of people, and the security were watchful and attentive.
One of the best events that this stadium holds each year is the Monster Jam monster truck show which is held in October. It's a jam-packed day out for families with kids and the action is so exciting. You can also purchase Monster Jam merchandise on the day and if you are lucky, you can get a photo with the drivers and trucks. It is really loud though, so kids who are sensitive to loud noises may not enjoy it.
Overall this is a fantastic venue that all Melbourne residents should take the time out to visit whether it be for a soccer match, rugby game, or concert.
