It is hard to believe, but the first term of 2017 is flying by and the Autumn school holidays are fast approaching. If the kid(s) in your life enjoy doing a school holiday program, so they can practice their favourite sport or learn a new skill, then you need to book them in early - as places are filling up fast! There is a huge variety of programs they can do - from sailing to dancing and everything in between. Take a scroll through this list and see if there is anything that interests your kid(s)...there should be plenty!

1/ Canberra Glassworks in Kingston hold popular school holiday workshops in their creative Hotshop. This Autumn kids can make their own wooden treasure boxes with glass inlay in the lid, a glass tile with a bug inside and/or an Autumn inspired tile. Classes are designed for kids over 8 on their own, or for kids aged between 5-8 with a guardian. Prices start from $30. See here for details.

2/ Forest Park Riding School in Stromlo host school holiday programs where kids are allocated a horse for 5 days and are in charge of its grooming and care. There is then the chance to ride them twice a day and learn basic riding skills. The program is designed for kids aged between 7- 6. Prices start from $100 for the one day program. 3/ The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Bruce run school holiday programs each year in a variety of sports and this Autumn holidays they will also be including AFL into the list! 4/ Zoocation** is a fun program for kids between Kindy and Year 6, where they get to explore behind the scenes of the National Zoo and Aquarium, make toys for the animals and learn more about the life of a Zookeeper. Cost is $80 per day. See here for details.

5/ Lucy Sparkle and Friends will be hosting Dance and Drama Workshops for kids aged between 4-6. These fun mornings will be held at the Canberra Southern Cross in Woden and includes morning tea. Cost is $25 a session. See here for details.

6/ The Australian War Memorial will be having a Memorials and Mosaic Workshop for kids to make a mosaic to take home. Designed for kids aged 8 and over. Cost is $20 per child. See here for details.

7/ Canberra Yacht Club** in Yarralumla have school holiday sailing courses for kids aged between 7-17. Their courses are designed for beginners through to experienced juniors. 8/ Kids Pantry children's cooking school in Deakin have school holiday programs where kids learn how to make dishes such as Caramel and Chocolate Crumble Slice, Apple Pancakes, Hot Cross Buns and Chicken Bahn Mi. 9/ Battle Games in Symonston is a fun and muddy boot camp for kids to challenge themselves through a series of obstacle courses and team building exercises. 11/ The Warehouse Circus in Chifley and Kaleen run school holiday workshops for kids to learn the basics of circus tricks, make new friends and have fun. Programs are designed for kids aged 5 and over. Prices start from $160 for 4 days of 3 hour sessions (for kids aged between 5-7). See here for details.

12/ Photoaccess in Manuka have a three day Kids Autumn Digital Photography School, for kids aged between 10-16. The kids go on a short field trip to capture images and then go back to the studio for computer based workshops to develop the images. The cost is $300 for 3 days. See here for details.

17/ Gooromon Park horse riding school at Hall offers 1 day and 4 day school holiday programs for kids to learn how to ride and look after the horses. Designed for kids aged 6-16.
