A Window on Italy provides a window on the family's continuing passion for collecting art, their support of artists, and their ongoing loyalty to the city of Florence, which has prevailed through the devastation of WWll and the inescapable forces of nature during the flood of Florence in 1966.
This exhibition features works from the 15th to the 20th Century and showcases Renaissance and Baroque paintings by Italian artists such as Botticelli, Tintoretto, Caravaggio and Pontormo. They are all extraordinary works of art and you have a rare chance to see them "up close and personal" here!
This personal collection includes portraits, landscapes, mythological and religious works. In the exhibition, there will also be fascinating decorative objects and furniture from the Palazzo Corsini. This collection will be leaving the city it has called home for 600 years, and this is the first time this collection has toured outside Italy and will be the only showing in Australia! Experience for yourself this unique visual history of passion, fortune, and survival.
This Palace is one of the rarest and most prestigious examples of the Baroque style in Renaissance Florence and one of the happiest moments of the Florentine painting periods.
The Palace can accommodate events that welcome large numbers of sitting guests taking advantage of both floors, with service areas logistically well-organised. This exhibition tells a story of the Corsini family.
Hundreds of years ago people also had family portraits - often as paintings or sculptures - made by famous artists. In this exhibition, you will see portraits and read stories about people from the Corsini family. You can trace the Corsini family history through the family tree and learn how they have lived over the last 600 years.
