Timboon and Cobden are two charming towns nestled between the lakes region and coastline of Victoria. They are only 200 kilometres south-west of Melbourne, and make the perfect weekend getaway with stylish cafes, scenic main streets, stunning landscapes, grand pubs, and boutique accommodation.

SHOPPING & CAFES

Timboon Fine Ice Cream are located at 1A Barrett Street Timboon and open from 11am to 5pm daily. This ice creamery serves 24 premium flavours and sorbets. Call (03) 5501 9736 or visit their page to find out more.

Timboon Berry World offer pick-your-own strawberry and dining experiences. They are at 26 Egan Street and are open from 11am Tuesday to Friday, and at 9am for breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays (call 0417 475 885). They also sell a variety of delicious condiments, jams, and strawberry wine.

Cobden Cafe Bakery is at 54 Curdie Street Cobden and sells tasty pies and sausage rolls, fresh sandwiches, cakes and slices. Don't forget to add the Western Star butter - it's made in Cobden! Opening hours are 7am to 6pm weekdays, 7am to 4pm Saturdays, and 8am to 4pm Sundays - call (03) 5595 1212 for more information.

Bluewren is a beautiful little coffee shop and clothes store at 23 Curdie Street in Cobden. Grab a coffee at the front window or sit by the wood fire inside. Alderwood Speakers offer high-quality natural timber speakers and accessories. Alderwood products include satellite speakers, subwoofers, and a portable PA. SIGHTSEEING

Timboon Rail Trestle Bridge is about six kilometres north of the town centre on the Camperdown to Timboon Rail Trail . The heritage listed 1891 bridge spans the Curdies River and is beautifully preserved.



Cobden Lake is less than ten minutes walk from the main street (Curdie Street) and is fed from Cobden Creek. It includes a short walking trail, viewing platforms, and picnic tables.

Cobden Pioneer Park is a historical theme park in Grayland Road. It is open on the third Sunday of each month from 11am to 4pm. The buildings and exhibits in the park explore the pioneering days of the district.

Cobden Miniature Railway is next door to Pioneer Park (and the Big Butter). The railway runs for 1.8 kilometres and includes an under and over pass, tunnel, trestle bridge and two stations. There is also a playground and BBQs for hire. You can find the booking form for the railway here . A Miniature Golf Course with 18 holes is also located in the precinct, and bookings can be made on 04 39 079 098.

If you're after real-size golf, the Cobden Golf Club offers nine holes in a beautiful setting and welcomes visitors and social golfers (book here ). The club also has a lounge with a full-service bar, piping hot coffee, and a bistro. Opening hours are here .

PUBS & ACCOMMODATION

Timboon and Cobden are only 25 kilometres apart, so you can visit and stay in either or both on your next trip.

Timboon Railway Shed Distillery is located at 1 Bailey Street next to the old Timboon railway area on the rail trail. The distillery offers a gourmet lunch menu, divine whisky selection, tastings and tours. For more information, call (03) 5598 3555 or email [email protected]



Railway View Hotel in Timboon is a casual venue offering budget-style motel rooms. The pub offers a deck with a great view, a bistro with a classic menu, a pool table, and front bar. Thommo's Hotel is a classic pub at 36 Curdie Street in Cobden that welcomes locals and tourists for lunch, dinner or drinks from Wednesday to Sunday each week. This grand venue was built in 1904 and includes a large bar, beer garden, function areas, dining room, and accommodation. Call them on (03) 5595 1208 to make a reservation.

Heytesbury House is a luxurious accommodation option in Cobden. TRANSPORT

Some visitors approach Cobden and Timboon from the North as the V/Line train and Princes Highway pass through Camperdown in the lakes region nearby.

Timboon and Cobden also see many tourists approach from the South as they detour off the Great Ocean Road at Port Campbell and come up from the Shipwreck Coast.
