Just two and a half hours south of Sydney is the picturesque town of Berry.

Berry, located on the South Coast of NSW, is the perfect place for a weekend away with your family or friends. Given the range of things to do, Berry is a worthwhile getaway in any season.

Have a CD or a playlist prepared and enjoy the drive. Once you get out of Sydney, you'll spend part of your journey driving along the coast, and the other part driving through the scenic countryside. There are a number of a scenic lookouts along the way which you might be tempted to stop at and take in the view.

Every Sunday of the month, Berry hosts its Country Fair. Here you'll find market stalls selling handmade goods, antiques and fresh produce. If you're lucky you might also come across the Rotary Chocolate Wheel and win a prize.

Don't forget to pay a visit to The Treat Factory where you'll find all sorts of treats, many of which are made on site, including chocolates, jams and sweet and savoury sauces.

What is there to eat?
Berry has a number of cafes and restaurants, most of which are located on the main street.

You can also grab a meal at one of Berry's pubs, but be prepared for fairly high prices (by pub food standards).

Berry is also famous for its doughnut van, so make sure you stop by the Famous Berry Donut Van on Queen Street and grab some hot cinnamon doughnuts, made to order. These doughnuts are exactly as a doughnut should be - crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside.

Where is there to stay?
Berry has a variety of hotels and motels. For example, if it's boutique accommodation you're after, you might like to stay at The Woodbyne . If you have country pub accommodation in mind, check out The Berry Hotel . Have a look at the list on TripAdvisor for ideas and reviews.

You'll also find a number of self-contained houses and cottages to stay in. The website Stayz is particularly helpful for finding self-contained accommodation.
