A fascinating journey into the history of a photo. We know that a picture tells a thousand words and that is the idea behind this on-line exhibition appropriately called "". The exhibition is a collaboration between Sydney Living Museums and NSW State Archives. You don't need to be a history buff to be drawn to this exhibition but it is a fantastic way to learn about Australian history.
The photographs are taken from a bygone era, making them mysterious, especially when you do not know what they are about or when they were taken. There is no information about the photo, no title or description, just the black and white photo. This will evoke many things from the observer and it's interesting to note what words your conjure up and your own story about what you are seeing. You will connect with your emotions strongly because all you have is your own imagination.
When viewing the gallery of photographs you can click into a picture, add a word to that picture, it will usually be a word that provokes a thought or feeling with you when looking at the photo. You can comment and also read the real story behind the photo. New images are added monthly, so you can revisit the site regularly and find something new.
