On a cold gusty day in my favourite Australian city, chilled to the bone and with wet boots, all I wanted was a big bowl of pasta. The traffic buzzing and tall buildings not helping to shelter me from the rain, I jumped in a taxi and asked him to take me to the best place I can get pasta.

He started on his journey, and even though not a local, I am familiar with the city and began to think he just wanted to suck this tourist dry with his high cab fare.

Finally, he dropped me at a gorgeous looking Italian restaurant, and through the wet window I could see a large, long table down the middle.

Feeling under dressed I asked for a table for one, and ordered a glass of red to warm my insides.



The strapping waiter explained to me that all the pasta is made fresh by the chef's hand as he refilled my glass as I ordered. The aroma of this classy restaurant was mouth watering. Never had I visited a place like this in Brisbane.

He informs me of the blackboard specials but I had already made my choice. Although I couldn't really understand the fancy language on the menu, I saw the word red wine and braised beef. It sounded warm and delicious.

The first fork full of hand cut pasta was divine, accompanied with my rich and sooth red wine, I knew I had just tasted the finest Italian food to date.

A Tavola apparently means "To the table" in Italian, and I wish I had a bigger stomach size to call out A Tavola, A Tavola, all night long.

A Tavola found me in Darlinghurst Sydney. If you are a pasta lover it is mandatory you check it out. It has to be the best in Sydney.

I visited on a Wednesday night and it was quite busy, so if dining on weekends, bookings are recommended. Phone (02) 9331 7871 to secure your seat.
