The Adelaide Festival Centre presented: A Swinging Christmas Prom 2014 starring Rachael Beck and Michael Falzon as they welcome the silly season. On December 12th and 13th The Adelaide Festival Theatre got a Christmas make-over. The stage was covered in fairy lights, there were eight Christmas trees, seven children smiling, six background dancers, five background singers, four Reed musicians, three Trumpet players, two silly clowns and a partridge in a pear tree.
Rachael Beck together with Michael Falzon and The Adelaide Art Orchestra under the direction of Timothy Sexton brought us into the Christmas spirit with Christmas favourites including 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas', 'Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer', 'Little Drummer Boy' and 'Silent Night'.
The audience didn't just watch, they had a role too. Given song books at the beginning of the show the audience sang 'Hark The Herald Angels Sing', 'We Three Kings', 'Santa Clause is Coming to Town', Twelve Days of Christmas', Jingle Bells' and 'We Wish You A Merry Christmas'.
The show featured Beck in six different gowns, each more lovely than the last, a remarkable dance routine to 'Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend' and a visit from Father Christmas on a scooter. This was a beautiful production and if you missed it tonight is the last show. If you saw It and loved it as much as I did, then buy your tickets for Christmas 2015 as 2000 tickets have already sold.
