A high tea With a difference - LOVEly parTEA
LOVErs, it is time to parTEA!

And who doesn't love going to a high tea in one of Perth's most fashionable hotels?

LOVE has partnered with Opportunity International Australia to empower the community of Watuhadang in Indonesia by raising money to provide loans to mothers so they can start their own small business and get out of the poverty situations they find themselves in. There are plans to work with these mothers and all it takes is just a "spoonful of LOVE to make a difference"! Therefore LOVE Foundation's high tea is aptly called A SPOONFUL OF LOVE.

Organisers are asking that you bring your "poshest" attitude and don't eat beforehand because not only will they be providing the tea, but also lots of amazing sweet and savoury edible treats.

Sweet treats

Some people feel that tea is just "leaf water", so there will also be plenty of coffee which organisers jokingly call "bean water"! So, you will you be able to indulge in tea to your heart's content, and there will be a talk by Wen Li Lim, who is the Managing Director of The Platform Perth.

The Platform was created exclusively for non-profit and social enterprises and works to connect like-minded organisations and individuals to "bring positive change to the local and global community". Wen will pass on a bit of her vast knowledge and there will also be live music throughout the afternoon.

This non-profit organisation describes themselves as:

Fighting poverty
Promoting the Arts
Spreading love

They aim to fight poverty through the arts and the believe through the power of all things creative; art, music, film and design, funds and awareness "can be generated for international developing communities, all whilst supporting local artists back home".

At LOVE Foundation, they believe there is a huge amount of hidden talent in Australia just waiting to be discovered. As such, they work to introduce up-and-coming talent to the industry and the public.

They, therefore, provide local artists a platform in the public which not only allows them to gain exposure and showcase their hard work, but also gives them an opportunity to "refine their skills, build networks and form a community in a professional environment". Their current project is to alleviate poverty in Indonesia through the provision of Microfinance, which will allow communities to achieve economic independence, and by thus doing, change their lives.

By offering this help, LOVE Foundation helps families in rural villages build their own businesses and get out of the circle of extreme poverty.

While the number of poor people living in Indonesia has declined in recent years, more than 100 million Indonesians continue to live in poverty. That's almost four times the population of Australia. Those families who live in rural areas are among the poorest in the land, and about three out of every five households don't have adequate sanitation facilities with over a third not even having electricity. You can watch quite a "moving" video of some of these people here:

"Empowering and supporting our neighbouring countries has never been easier, or more delicious!"
