Have you been to the Genesian Theatre yet? It's an architectural delight tucked away where you would hardly even notice it at 420 Kent Street in Sydney's CBD. (Just around the corner from Town Hall station), an easy 5 minute walk.

A Passage to India by E M Forster is now showing at the theatre until June 19th 2021. Adapted by Martin Sherman.
Directed by Mark G Nagle.

I'd definitely recommend this production. The actors and storyline hold your attention, the costumes are great and even though I wasn't familiar with the story it was easy to watch, interesting and really enjoyable. Here's an excerpt from the Genesian website:

Before deciding whether to marry Chandrapore's local magistrate, Adela Quested desires to discover the "real India" for herself. Newly arrived from England, she agrees to see the Marabar Caves with the charming Dr Aziz.

Through this one harmless event, Forster exposes the absurdity, hysteria and depth of cultural ignorance that existed in British India in the twenties.

E.M. Forster's classic novel is adapted in this highly theatrical, humorous and faithful version for the stage. It was wonderful to sit back and enjoy A Passage to India! It's a strong adaptation with many challenges of multiple locations, costume changes and a large cast. Thank you to everyone at the GenesianTheatre.
