Renowned Australian pianist, David Helfgott will dazzle audiences in a special performance at Stamford Plaza in Brisbane on Saturday 31 August 2019.
Born in Melbourne, Helfgott was a child prodigy who was playing Chopin and Liszt at the age of 10. Later, he moved to London to study piano where his gifted talent was recognised.
During his time in London, his mental health deteriorated and he began showing signs of a schizoaffective disorder. Overcoming his health challenges and periods of institutionalised care and with the support of his wife Gillian, David Helfgott re-found his musical gift and continues to pursue his talent and enthral audiences worldwide.
Helfgott was portrayed by Australian actor Geoffrey Rush in the film Shine. In 1997, Geoffrey Rush was awarded the Academy Award for Best Actor at the 69th Academy Awards for his performance in the lead role. After being immortalised in the film, Helfgott has toured nationally and internationally and sold out some of the world's most famous concert halls.
Don't miss this chance to see the extraordinary David Helfgott live this August in Brisbane.
