SPACE@COLLINS is proudly presenting A March to Art – Identity, the inaugural exhibition for the Australian National Veterans Arts Museum.Opening to the public on Wednesday 22nd of March, 2017, this unique group exhibition is a vibrant celebration of all veteran artists, their creativity and the role of arts in rehabilitation.
A March to Art: Identity aims to redefine community perceptions of our new generation of veterans and engage the arts as a mechanism to explore identity. The contemporary art exhibition showcases works by a diverse range of artists, both young and old, who have served in the military or who are within a veteran's family circle.
Featuring the participation of more than 15 talented artists, the exhibition demonstrates the value of creativity as artists explore notions of identity, either for themselves or the veteran community. The displayed works, which include works created especially for the exhibition, together with award-winning pieces exhibited at state, national and international levels range from digital photography, sculpture, quilting and painting, to music recording, photojournalism, short film and poetry. The Australian National Veterans Arts Museum provides creative arts therapy programs to veterans and family members of veterans to aid in healing the mental scars of service.
Space@Collins is open from 10am to 5pm daily and entry is FREE. A March to Art: Identity is open until Tuesday 25th of April, 2017.For more information on the exhibition, please visit www.spaceatcollins.com.au
