The bustling Belmore Road in Randwick is home to a number of cafes. The cafes here are subjected to the harsh critics of UNSW students, so they have to constantly re-invent themselves to keep up with the standards.
A Little More Cafe has just opened a few months ago and their menu is replete with good value comfort food favourites.
The cafe adopted a clean, minimalist approach to their interior decoration. It was a liberating feeling to come into a de-cluttered space, but it also reminded me to really to work on my 'end-of-the-year' clean-up.
We opted for a quiet spot near the back and the friendly staff took our drink orders promptly. My fresh juice arrived first and it tasted so good in summer. The "Green Machine" juice has a healthy blend of apple, mint, lime, spinach in coconut water. It was a good detox concoction.
We had a chat to the owner, who gave us his take on the breakfast menu and some of the must-have dishes.
The smashed avocado is an all-time favourite. When it came, we were thrilled to see how vibrant it was presented. It had radish slices and pine nuts which uplifted the whole dish. The smashed avocado on toast was everything it ought to be - happy, fresh and flavoursome.
The oozing triple cheese toastie is highly recommended. There's nothing quite like a delicious melted cheese sandwich. This one was no exception. It was stuffed with various cheeses: smoked Cheddar, Provolone and Red Leicester, then gently pan fried. The result was a crisp bread exterior and a gooey cheesy interior.
We also ordered the Board Special and the Hot Smoked trout bagel just sounded delicious! The smoked trout was beautifully soft and tender, but the chef also added something special, the crispy skin cracking!
A Little More Cafe is striving to improve and experiment with new dishes. The price range is very reasonable and the staff are very friendly. So if you have some time at hand, come and enjoy a leisurely breakfast or brunch.
