Browsing Bookshops is something to do on a wet day, on a hot day, when looking for gifts or just something to read for yourself. I found this book to be one that is easy to read, yet inspirational, funny as well as interestingly descriptive.

I came across this small yet wonderful and in some contexts powerful book written by Michael J Fox called "On My Way to the Future." I found an affinity with his writing as he used his time as a struggling actor and his subsequent work on the TV series and the movie Back to the Future (1985) to explain the economics of the acting business. He actually used the word 'economics'. I think much of what he discussed was actually more the accounting side of living, yet he did use this to discuss the economics of life and wellbeing, which could be said to apply to his descriptions of moving from a small studio to a more liveable locale. He describes brilliantly the relative standards of living when trying to enter the industry compared to being a well known and overworked soul.

His book is poignant in its descriptions of his life, lifestyle, the industry he worked in and the effects on his life and how his life has become one that effects many. His writing is relatively philosophical and is a joy to read.

Michael J Fox has made so much of his time available to help raise awareness for Parkinsons Disease. Its seems much has happened on the way to Michael's future including, The Michael J Fox Foundation.

I think its a lovely gift though, especially for anyone in their teens or early twenties as one of those books to keep.
