Following their recent highly successful and critically acclaimed sell-out production of John B. Keane's "Big Maggie", the Irish Theatre Players (ITP) present their annual Festival of One Act Plays.
The strictly limited season will play at the Irish Club, Subiaco on the 6th, 7th,12th, 13th, 14th, 15th August at 8:00pm and 9th August at 3:00pm.
The program of events is as follows:
Written by: Gemma Doorly
Directed by: Caroline Mc Donnell
A black comedy about a long-suffering but dedicated "perfect" wife of a Sports Star who discovers that his latest infidelity may be more than just a fling. Confronted with an unimaginable life without him, she summons the object of his affection to their home to size up the competition - and to get answers! Pitted against each other, the two women battle it out! "Hell hath no fury like a WAG scorned…"
Over the Top
Written by: Rodney Quinn
Directed by: Katie Galvin
Set in a trench on the battlefields of the Great War of 1918, Over the Top juxtaposes the harsh realities experienced by the soldiers of this war with their supposed patriotism and dedication to King and Country. The audience experience sarcastic interactions between British and Irish soldiers, fighting side by side in the trenches, as they reflect on the loved ones they have left behind "to fight this war of fools". As the reality of what is to come intensifies, we are given an insight to the combatant's real convictions enveloped by the utter futility and banality of war.
Voices in the Rubble
Written by: Darren Donohue
Directed by: Lisa Reilly
A wild absurdist comedy capturing the highs and lows of life after "you've tied the knot". A wonderfully fast-moving piece played out on many, many levels - filled with affairs, dreams and dead bodies in the fridge! Voices in the Rubble will have you on the edge of your seat as you take the rollercoaster ride that is forty years of marriage – all neatly compressed into 40 minutes!
As usual, the Irish Theatre Player's ITA Awards winning Front of House team will transform the theatre into a "mystery" theme to give their audiences the complete theatrical night out experience.
Expect the customary Irish Theatre Player's community hospitality including the traditional Irish pub and shop supplemented with port on arrival and tasty supper with the ever popular Hetty's Scullery Irish breads and treats.
As always, be surprised with the range of wonderful raffle prizes courtesy of our local sponsors – all proceeds go to updating ageing theatre equipment.
All proceeds from the performance on the 12th August will be donated to local charity, the Claddagh Association Inc, to assist in their O'Toole family fundraising appeal.
