Powderfinger may have called it a day, but Aussie rock legend
Bernard Fanning is still dominating the music charts.
Bernard Fanning is set to headline
A Day on the Green , a series of outdoor concerts held at selected wineries around Australia. His album
Departures went straight to number one on the
Aria Music Charts, with fans clearly embracing his new debut album.
It also looks like the former front man for
Powderfinger is looking forward to performing at
A Day on the Green, hoping to share a couple of wines with other acts
The Cruel Sea, Sarah Blasko, Bob Evans and
Band of Frequencies.
Iconic indie rock band
The Cruel Sea don't perform together often, and with charismatic front man
Tex Perkins , they're still going from strength to strength. With five
ARIA awards to their credit, this is one performance you can't afford to miss.
ARIA award-winning
Best Female Artist Sarah Blasko, returns home to Australia, coinciding with the release of the haunting new single 'All of Me'. Enchanting and undeniably brilliant, Sarah is set to thrill
A Day on the Green audiences.
Bob Evans , the lovable alter-ego of
Jebediah frontman
Kevin Mitchell, has been charming fans with his quirky solo projects for the past decade.
Winners of the
2012 QMA Blues/Roots award for best new album, progressive surf roots rockers
Band of Frequencies will also join the line up. They've played all over the world with the likes of
Donovan Frankenreiter, John Butler, Angus Stone and Ash Grunwald.
A Day on the Green is like
A Big Day Out for adults. You can pack a picnic basket with all your favourite food, however alcohol is not permitted. Make sure your glasses and cutlery are plastic, and bring cash as there are no EFTPOS facilities on the site. It's a bonus that kids under 12 are free, and if you're under 18, you must be accompanied by an adult.
Why not make a weekend of it, and book accommodation near the concert site.
A Day on The Green started with a show on
Australia Day in Melbourne in 2001. Since then, it's grown to become established as one of Australia's most successful and respected outdoor concert events.
On a warm summer's night against the back-drop of Australia's beautiful vineyards, you can't get better than this during the Australian summer.
