Australia is so many things, but mostly it is outdoor living at its best. This includes beaches, parks, sidewalk cafes, rooftop bars and open-air restaurants, just to name a few.
Then there is the entertainment section of that amazing outdoor life.
Yes – music festivals, concerts and rock bands!! Woohoo!

A day on the green!
There are many venues to take advantage of the music side of things, from the stadiums that hold huge masses of people, to places like the River Stage next to QUT that allows you to sit all day outside into the starry night and listen to your favourite musicians.
Then there is another.
Located at Sirromet Winery in Mount Cotton is the large, outdoor space where A Day on the Green is held with famous regularity.

The amazing Bryan Ferry!
We had a chance to try our first outdoor experience with them recently. It was our pleasure to find out how amazingly organized and thorough they are. There is only one thing they need to address more and I will get to that later on because this article is about the positive side of this experience.
A Day on the Green, run by Michael and Anthea Newton of Roundhouse Entertainment, have been supplying us with such great entertainers and venues since Jan. 26, 2001. We were so pleased we finally tried this out for ourselves.
Here are a few do's and don'ts to consider when you go (you can find almost all of these suggestions and more on their
website: or you can go to the Sirromet Winery website as well –
www.sirromet.com.)
Do: Purchase tickets for your favourite bands before you go. Plan to spend all day enjoying.

Reputable tickets!
Don't: Be in too much of a hurry. Just make sure you purchase your tickets online from a reputable vendor.
Do: Prepare for the day.
Don't: Assume you can bring all the things you think you need.
Do: Go online and look up what you can take with you. A Day on the Green allows you to bring picnic lunches and sealed bottled water, or bring your own clear, empty, plastic water bottle that you can refill for free. Bring things smaller if you are sitting in reserved seating so you have room to sit. You can bring lawn chairs if you are sitting on the grass.

What can you bring?
Don't: Bring metal, glass, cheese knives or an esky (cooler for all you Canadians out there) bigger than 26 litres or it won't get to go inside.
Do: Prepare for the weather. Bring a hat, sunscreen, and rain gear. There is no- where to be undercover and you will most likely need all of these items.
Don't: Forget to bring sunscreen, a hat and rain gear. Umbrellas are not allowed.

Weather ready!
Do: Have an amazing time. The music is so good, the sound system is exceptional. The facility is run really well.
Don't: Bring your own alcohol as the venue is licensed so you can purchase plastic wine bottles with plastic cups or beer in cans. Also, you will find soft drinks etc.
Do: Bring cash if you intend to buy food. Bring your card for the alcohol purchases.
Don't: Forget that you have to drive home when you are done.
Do: Look up the best way for you to go. Maybe you can get a ride, take a bus or bring your own car. There is lots of parking.
Don't: Be in a hurry when you go to leave. It is a large space, which for some reason was not looked after when everyone was trying to leave so it was crazy, crazy, crazy, trying to get out of the parking lot at the end of the day.
Do: Remember how amazing everyone involved is and the incredible shows that are there, and how well they are run. Even the toilet facilities never have long lines.
Don't: Get upset at them about the parking. I am sure they know about the issues and are working on it.
We are looking forward to the next time.
