Things to do in a day in Melbourne
If you have a day in Melbourne and want to experience the culture, taste the foods and explore then the list below is for you:
1. Footy at the MCG To experience the culture of Melbourne you must attend a live match of AFL! To really get a lot out of this visit check out the history of the Melbourne Cricket Ground, see the MCG's National Sports Museum to learn about all kinds of sports or if you like to learn more why not take a daily guided tour. Click here for website.
2. Brave it out at Eureka Skydeck For a "different experience" of Melbourne visit the Eureka Skydeck which offers breathtaking bird's-eye views of Melbourne city and if you are brave enough visit The Edge challenge where you are at 88 flours up in the air in a glass cube that suspends you 300 metres above Melbourne! To finish off your experience why not have a little splurge and visit Shannon Bennett's Vue de Monde restaurant on the 55th floor of the icon Rialto building. Click here for website.
3. Take a break with a brunch For that perfect break, enjoy it like the locals do with a big brunch or lunch in Melbourne's well-known laneways that are lined up with hipster cafes or head to Brunswick Street in Fitzroy where your senses will go wild with the stretch of great options.
4. Take a stroll A stroll along the picturesque Yarra River foreshore at dusk before you depart is a must. This is the time where Melbourne really starts to shine, literally- the city lights are at their best from this riverside vantage point, making it the perfect way to end your day.
I've lived in Melbourne for nearly 50 years now and I have never been to an AFL match. However my husband and stepson went to the museum as part of a Melbourne sports tour and they saw it is really something.
