A Common Ground is a small space, tucked under some stairs, and packed to the brim with delightful edibles, which makes it feel like every cookaholic's dream home pantry.

The little shop stocks breads, cheeses, jams, honey, pickles, relishes, oils, glazes, mustards, and jellies and so forth — all from Tasmanian artisan producers, of course.

A Common Ground is the project of food writer Matthew Evans and cheesemaker Nick Haddow of the Bruny Island Cheese Company.

Pop by for a chat (the staff are very knowledgeable and helpful about local produce) and a nibble: I tasted some ultra-sweet, ultra-tangy raspberry jam, and some very hot mustard that was so good, I had to take some home.

You'll find the shop in the Salamanca Arts Centre, 77 Salamanca Place, Hobart. And for extra goodness, you can shop online at www.acommonground.com.au
