Love this place!! It's like stepping into an arcade game, surrounded by pixel wallpaper. My partner and I drop into 8-bit in Droop St, Footscray whenever we are in the area. It's our go-to burger joint for quick, filling and tasty food.
Their burgers are so tasty, smothered with a delicious mixture of sauces. The mushroom burger never disappoints.
I really love mushrooms. If you're a vegetarian, there is a choice of two burgers on their current menu. A mushroom burger or a chickpea patty burger. I always go with the mushroom. Not that I've got anything against chickpeas – it's just that when they are mashed into a patty I am usually less than excited and I find the overall flavour lacking.
So here I am ordering the 1-Up mushroom burger again!
The combination is just right and the flavours all sing. I'm trying to put my finger on why I like this burger so much and I realise it's the American cheese, which is melted to gooey perfection over the patty. The mushroom is also crumb and fried, for that bit of crunch. Sandwiched between a brioche bun, topped with American cheese, tomato, red onion, green tomato relish, lettuce, mustard and their signature 8bit sauce.
