8020BK is a Thai fusion restaurant located in the same building as Akimitsu , at the base of Holiday Inn Express on Hindley Street. During lunchtime from Tuesday to Friday, 8020BK offers a lunch menu in addition to their main menu. The portion sizes of the dishes are quite generous, making them a filling meal for one.

Giving a Thai twist to the burger, their BK Burger had soft-shell crab fried to golden brown. The coleslaw of cucumber and apple added freshness and crispiness to the dish and the sriracha chilli sauce was scrumptious, with a spicy taste that was not too intense. We also liked that the bun was lightly toasted so it would not become too soggy from the sauce. This was our favourite dish.



The flesh of the chicken in the BBQ Chicken with Rice could easily be separated from the bones. Extra flavour was provided by fried herb leaves. There were also slices of chilli scattered over the chicken. Take care when eating them as their chilli pack a potent spicy punch.



While we would have liked the soup in their Tom Yum Noodle Soup to be spicier and sourer, the noodles were cooked al dente and contrasted by a small handful of deep-fried noodles. The chicken was tender and a poached egg completed the dish.



The restaurant is fairly small in size and the décor gave it a cosy ambience. We intend to return at another time for dinner to sample the dishes on their main menu. 8020BK is located within walking distance from Rundle Mall, University of South Australia and the offices along Currie Street, making it a convenient place for a lunch break.
