I love to run, I love the free feeling I get when I run, I love how it clears my mind and all of the days problems disappear and all that there is, is me, my breath, music in my ears and the path I'm on. Because running is my release valve, when I moved recently the first thing I did was to look for a path for running, lucky me not only did I find a running path at the end of my street, I think I've found one of the best paths in Brisbane.
The path starts at 7th Brigade Park in Chermside, I enter through Banfield Street but there is also access from Beor, Corrie, Delaware, Hodgkinson, Navarre, Nielson Streets and Hamilton, Murphy and Newman Roads. 7th Brigade Park adjoins Downfall Creek. On my way around I have found the local cricket teams having a match on the field, which is open to the public when matches aren't on if you would like to have a friendly match, three children's playgrounds, barbecue and picnic areas, two dog parks and roller blading and skate boarding areas.
If you really want to give yourself a full workout there is exercise stations strategically placed along your way and has everything from hurdles and sit up to chin ups and leg lifts. The path is a gentle one without any large hills but don't worry if you are an avid runner the length of the path will give you a great workout.
While I use the path for running it is also a great place for walking or riding. The track follows beautiful vegetation and criss crosses downfall creek via gently sloping bridges and runs alongside the marshes. You can choose from different length tracks depending on what you want. There is a small loop of about 1km through to a track that will take you to Virginia train station at about 10 km.
