This Mother's Day the nicest present you can give your Mum is some special time with you and something made with love. After all, your Mum wouldn't be a mum if it weren't for you. She loves spending time with you, and your art and crafts are her most precious treasures.

With that in mind, here are 7 ideas for making this the best Mother's Day ever for your Mum.

1. Write a letter for your Mum telling her why she's so special, pop it in an envelope addressed to her along with a stamp and ask Dad or another adult to help you post it in time for Mother's Day. Mum will get such a nice surprise when your letter arrives and she'll keep it forever, that's how much she'll love it.

2. As well as making your own card, why not use your paintings and drawings to make some special Mother's Day wrapping paper?

3. You know Mum doesn't get many chances to sleep in these days, so one of the best presents you can give her is a little extra time for a lie in on Mother's Day! Ask Dad or another adult to set an alarm clock – far away from Mum's bedroom – so that you know when it goes off it's a good time to go in and wish Mum a happy Mother's Day with lots of cuddles and kisses, but not quite as early as she would usually get up.

4. With a little help from Dad or another grown up, make breakfast in bed for Mum. Here are some easy brekky ideas . Ask Dad or another grown up to help with anything that involves a hot stove, oven or kettle.

For an extra special touch, make a mini menu of your own listing the special brekky treats you've put together for Mum. You could also pop a flower you have picked from your garden specially in a little vase on the tray to take in to Mum with her brekky. Just lovely.

5. Once Mum has finished brekky in bed, it's gift time. She will love opening your handmade presents, wrapped up in your own artwork.

6. When Mum has opened her beautiful presents, why not organise some pampering for her? This is another thing Mum doesn't have much time for usually, so Mother's Day is the perfect day for it.

Ask Dad or another adult to help you run a nice hot bath for Mum, with some essential oils or bath salts added for an extra relaxing soak.

If you don't have a bath – not to worry. Ask for some help to fill a biggish sized bucket about half way with warm water, add a handful of marbles and a dash of body oil or bath salts. This will make a lovely in-home spa foot treatment for Mum. All she needs to do is have a seat, pop her bare feet into the bucket and roll the marbles around underneath her feet.

7. Now that Mum has had a lovely lie in, a beautiful brekky in bed, has been spoilt with your creative gifts and is as relaxed as ever, maybe it's time for a nice walk to the park if the sun is shining, or if it's a bit grey and rainy, it's the perfect time for an in-house movie, all snuggled up on the couch warm and cosy.

Last but not least, don't forget Grandma.! Mother's Day is also a special day for your Nanni, Nonna, Yaya, Nai Nai or Oma. If you can't visit, why not Skype or Facetime using a computer or smartphone so they can still see you? Ask Mum, Dad or another adult first though.

However you celebrate Mother's Day this weekend, if you follow these your Mum is sure to be surprised and delighted! (Dads these are also great ideas for Mum's birthday).

But remember, more than anything else, your Mum will love the thought and effort you have put in to make her day special. So have a very happy Mother's Day filled with love, lots of cuddles and laughs with your very special Mum.
