Stretch your legs because this October will be the 7 bridges walk held by the Cancer Council. The walk is 28km long, and you guessed it, crosses 7 bridges: Sydney Harbour Bridge, Pyrmont Bridge, ANZAC Bridge, Iron Cove Bridge, Gladesville Bridge, Tarban Ck Bridge and Fig Tree Bridge.
Yes, it is a long walk, but there are multiple starting (and stopping) points, and the Cancer Council have provided a map with key features including the location of facilities, places for photo ops, where there are stairs or steep inclines (which you can choose to avoid if you like), and water stations.
The whole event is a big fundraiser to support Australians affected by cancer, where every dollar goes towards cancer research and cancer support services. If you manage to fundraise over $1,000 you will join the
$1K Club which allows you access to a members-only marquee, a free massage, a chill-out zone with complimentary snacks and coffee, giveaways and an exclusive $1K Club pin.
There are also
prizes and rewards to be won, a
leaderboards for those of you with the competitive spirit, and a whole lot of
resources to help you on your journey.
The Details
The walk starts at 7:30am and closes at 4:30pm on Sunday 22 October 2023. It is recommended that if you wish to do the entire 28km walk, you should start before 11am, if you start before 7:30am or complete the course after 4:30pm you will not be considered as a participant outside the course open hours.
The registration tickets are $75 for an adult (+ booking fee, early bird prices are $55), or $65 for a concession (+ booking fee). Children under 14 can participate for free but need to be with a registered adult.
The cost of the ticket covers the event itself, so any fundraising you choose to do goes directly towards the cancer cause!
If you want to register click the link here , but keep in mind you need to select your starting zone when you register, so make sure you plan ahead with your buddies!
For any other burning questions you may have there is an
FAQ page which has answers to questions regarding registration and funding, the course and event details, rules and merchandise.
