Every since I can remember I have loved to dance, I'll admit I've never been very good at it, but I simply adore the feeling that comes from completely relaxing and expressing myself through movement. And of all the dance styles, ballet was always favourite. So it's probably not surprising that one of the first things I did when I found out I was coming to Canberra was to check out the dance studios offering ballet. To my surprising there are actually a few in Canberra but this one in particular peaked my interest - it was close to my work and the times worked well with my schedule.

I was keen to check it out and give it a go, but I wasn't sure if it would be the dance studio for me, so I booked one class (you can buy a two week unlimited pass for $49) and then nervously waited. I shouldn't have been nervous though as all the other participants in the class were friendly and Debbie the ballet teacher was very welcoming and knowledgable. In fact everybody that I have met since at 6th Position has been friendly and I suppose that is the reflection of the dance studio motto of "Every.Body.Welcome." I was even sent a lovely welcome card, which just added to the friendly atmosphere in all the classes, and made me feel truly welcome.

It is because of this welcoming atmosphere and the wonderful teachers, that I am planning to try out the rest of the classes on offer at 6th Position - Lyrical (Contemporary), Jazz (both Commercial and Broadway), Tap and Barre Fitness, with my first Barre Fitness class booked for next week.
