Review:
I am a big fan of the LEGO Creator 3-in-1 series because they have a big range of sets that are suitable for people of all ages. I picked up the LEGO Creator 3 in 1 Red Dragon (31445) set in December 2023 for $10. You can choose to build either a dragon, a fish, or a bird. I chose to build the dragon because it looked so adorable. The dragon has big eyes, an adorable snout, raised claws, a large tail and big blue wings. It was a lot of fun and easy to put together.

Review:
I really like LEGO sets that are cheap and affordable and can be assembled within an afternoon. I first heard about the LEGO Magical Unicorn (3114) on social media back in 2023 when it was first released. I thought the design of the unicorn was adorable. The Magical Unicorn (3114) set has 145 pieces. You are given the option to assemble a unicorn, a sea horse, or a bird. I chose to make the unicorn. I was able to put it together in under an hour. I really like the design. It’s bright, colourful and cheerful.

Review:
I am a huge Animal Crossing fan so when Nintendo announced official Animal Crossing LEGO sets back in October 2023, I was thrilled. But then I watched the official reveal video and was left feeling a little deflated. I thought that the sets looked childish and resembled Duplo. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to purchase one. My opinion changed when I saw Bunnie’s Outdoor Activities set on a shelf in a store. Bunnie has always been my favourite Animal Crossing character. I knew I had to get it. I was really surprised with how much the design of this set impressed me. I could tell it was made by someone who was familiar with Animal Crossing. There were so many little delightful surprises like the rock on top of the hill that can be removed to reveal a little hole where you can place a coin and a fossil. And the front of the tree can be pulled away to reveal a space where coins and fruit can be placed. The Bunnie Minifig is great as well.

4. LEGO Icons Botanical Collection Flower Bouquet (10280)

Age Group: 18 years +
Series: LEGO Botanical Collection
Pieces: 756 pieces
Cost $78 - $99.99

Review:
TheLEGO Icons Botanical Collection Flower Bouquet (10280) is one of the most popular LEGO sets designed for adults. The box comes with 756 LEGO pieces that can be assembled to create a bouquet of flowers that include poppies, roses, daises, and asters. I really enjoyed putting this set together. The bouquet is very colourful and the design of the flowers was very unique and well done. I cannot have real flowers in my house because I am allergic to pollen and they trigger my allergies. So you can imagine how happy I was to display my LEGO bouquet in a vase. It looks great and I never have to water it and it doesn’t make me sneeze.

5. Horizon Forbidden West: Tallneck

Age Group: 18 years +
Series: Horizon Forbidden West
Pieces: 1222 pieces
Cost $99.99 - $130.00
Website: https://www.lego.com/en-au/product/horizon-forbidden-west-tallneck-76989
Review:
The Horizon Forbidden West: Tallneck is a stunning LEGO diorama that was designed for fans of the action role-playing video games Horizon Zero Dawn (2017) and Horizon Forbidden West (2022). The special edition LEGO building kit was released in 2022 a few months after Guerilla Games released Horizon Forbidden West on PlayStation. There are 1,222 LEGO pieces included in the box. The Tallneck model is 34cm high, 23cm wide, and 17cm deep and comes with a LEGO minifig of Aloy with a spear and a bow and arrow. It is striding across a landscape covered in grass, rocks and flowers and includes a large tree and a spotlight covered in vines.

I had a lot of trouble building the base of this diorama. It broke apart in my hands a couple of times. I had much more fun putting the Tallneck together. The design was so well done. In the Horizon games a Tallneck is a large communications machine built to resemble a giraffe. They are gentle creatures that are not hostile towards humans and are known for their solitary nature and walking in a predefined loop. They have large flat disks for heads, large legs, a large backside, and a long neck ribbed with several long antennae that protrude out. I was surprised with how easy it was to put together the Tallneck. I thought it would be a lot harder but a lot of the sections popped into place without much difficulty. I had a bit more trouble getting the Tallneck to stand up straight. I eventually realized that I put one of the legs in backwards and that’s what the problem was. Once I fixed it I was able to get the Tallneck standing. The Horizon Forbidden West: Tallneck set has been retired but is still available to purchase online.

6. T-Rex Break Out (76956)

Age Group: 18 years +
Series: Jurassic World
Pieces: 1212 pieces
Cost $99.99 - $120

Review:
Jurassic Park is one of my favourite movies so when I found out that LEGO had released a set re-creating one of the most iconic moments in the 1993 film I knew I had to get it. The T-Rex Break Out set re-creates the iconic moment in the film when the Tyrannosaurus Rex breaks out of its enclosure and attacks the two Ford Explorers. The set comes with 1,212 pieces and over 58cm wide. It comes with stickers, Easter eggs, and 4 LEGO minifigs of Alan Grant, Ian Malcom, and kids Tim and Lex. I found it a bit difficult to put together the base of this set. I had to place the base flat on the table top or else it fell apart in my hands if I put too much pressure on it. I had a lot more fun putting together the Ford Explorers and the Tyrannosaurus Rex. I loved the amount of hard work that went into making this set. There were so many little Easter Eggs to spot like T-rex footprints in the mud, the warning signs on the fence, the display on the computer inside the Ford Explorer, and the glasses of the water in the back seat of the car. The T-Rex Break Out set is retired now but you can still find it online if you’re willing to shop around. It’s a great LEGO set if you can find it. They spared no expense!
