Riot of colour and inspiration in beautiful Northside store
Kylie was a stay-at-home mum raising 5 sons for over 17 years when she decided it was high time she turned her attention to her own dreams of owning a retail gift store. She envisioned a store full to the brim with handmade pieces in bright and funky colours and which you couldn't find anywhere else. 5 Quirky Cherubs is all the things she dreamed about and more. Naming it after her own sons, the store feels like a family owned and operated business with good old fashioned service and charm.
Situated on Grovely Terrace, just off Blackwood Street in Mitchelton, the area has an old world 'shopping strip' feel to it which adds to the nostalgic feeling of the store. There are a few wonderful cafes and restaurants nearby which are beginning to bring the crowds back this historic shopping precinct. There is also a Jan Powers Farmers Market on the first Sunday of each month which is a great Northside local event for shopping.
Inside the store, you will find all manner of treasures from felted dolls to polka dot shoes and sterling silver floral jewellery. Gorgeous children's clothing is hung in a corner section with unique shorts, dresses and tees to choose from. A lovely array of handmade cushions abounds with floral prints, screenprinted images and button accents.
Perhaps the most stand-out feature of the store itself are the floors and wall. You stand upon a purple glitter laquer which completely dazzles you as you step inside. The walls are a aquamarine which compliments perfectly even though it seems zany to have these two bold colours in such a small space.
This is a beautiful spot to find a lovely gift or buy yourself a treat. Kylie is a treasure and will assist you to find exactly what you're looking for or simply show you what's new in store. It's absolutely worth stopping in regularly as stock changes on a daily basis here and every piece is magical.
