Looking for something scary to watch in 2024? You're in luck!

1. Imaginary

When a mother returns to her childhood home she finds her teddy bear, Chauncey, which she left behind in the basement. Her stepdaughter begins playing with and talking to the bear, which seems to be more than just an ordinary teddy bear.

Imaginary will be directed by Jeff Wadlow (director of Truth or Dare and Fantasy Island). It is scheduled for release on the 2nd of February, 2024. It even has a trailer already, which is a bonus.

2. Winnie the Pooh Blood and Honey 2

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey (2023) was a slasher film loosely based on A.A. Milne's classic children's book series because that kind of thing can happen once a popular character finally comes into the public domain. It was made on a shoestring budget, and grossed over $5 million dollars, despite generally poor reviews. Following the film's commercial success, a sequel is being made, to be released in 2024.

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 will be directed by Rhys Frake-Waterfield, and has a much larger budget than the first film. Many of the original cast will not be returning for the sequel, which is not a great sign. Scott Chambers will replace Nikolai Leon as Christopher Robin.

It is scheduled for release on February 14th, 2024.

3. Smile 2

Smile (2022) was a supernatural horror film about a dark entity that follows grieving people and causes them to self-harm. A sequel has been given the green light and will be directed by Parker Finn, who directed the original. It is scheduled for release in October 2024.

4. A Quiet Place: Day One

Poster for A Quiet Place.

A Quiet Place Day One will be the third film released in the series which began with the 2018 film A Quiet Place. The series takes place in modern-day America, where deadly monsters who hunt by sound have devastated the population.

The latest instalment will be a prequel to the first film, focusing on different characters. The cast will include Lupita Nyong'o (from Us and Little Monsters ) and Alex Wolff (from Hereditary and Oppenheimer).

5. Alien: Romulus

As a fan of the Alien franchise, I am very excited about the upcoming Alien: Romulus, which will be the ninth film in the series, although it is a standalone movie not connected with the characters from the previous films. It will be directed by Fede Álvarez (director of Don't Breathe and Evil Dead 2013) It is scheduled for a theatrical release in August 2024.
